Flu Shots

Did you know that everyone benefits from getting a flu shot?

Who Should Get the Flu Vaccine?

The National Advisory Committee on Immunization encourages all Canadians over six months of age to get vaccinated against the flu. The flu vaccine is proven to greatly reduce the risk of getting the flu, helps everyone to stay healthy and active all season, and avoids spreading the flu to friends and loved ones (to some, especially newborns or the elderly, the flu can be a very big deal).

At Pharmasave Gateway Crossing, our trained Pharmacist is available to provide you with your annual flu shot. This quick and simple procedure will help guard you against the flu this season.

But, I’ve heard bad things about the flu shot…

Some people choose not to get the flu shot because they have heard that the vaccine can give them the flu: we are here to assure you that this is simply not possible – the flu vaccine does not contain any live flu virus, meaning that it cannot replicate the flu.

If you got sick the last time you had a flu shot, it may have been because you were already sick with another virus – and when your immune system kicked in in response to the vaccine, it did its job of combating the sickness you were fighting.
